Winter is over?

But it’s raining, grey, dark early, and it’s windier than ever.
What’s one day of bad weather… I’ll look at the forecast.

FORECAST: Expect rain every day this week. High wind warnings for Auckland Area.

Mon:🌧️Tue: ⛈️Wed: ⛈️Thurs:🌧️. ……

An outlook with very little fun?

I tell myself it’s silly to let the weather affect my mood – but it still does.
Daylight savings are almost here, and the vibe will shift dramatically.

But summer will come then go. I can’t only live during 4 months of the year.

So here’s a reminder to myself (we often need reminding more than we need to be told)

Life is an outdoor activity. Humans for the most part have thrived in an unstable outdoor environment in more or less constant motion. We can function even in windy and unstable spring weather.

In fact, I think spring is where your year is made. The ability to hit summer in the best possible physical and mental shape allows you to really take advantage of the “up” season and live your best life.

You’re dry inside but you still feel wet. Saturated with comfort. Rusting your resilience. Only your choices can dry you.

Being healthy is hard work, being sick and tired is hard work. We must choose our hard.

Summer isn’t here, but why wait?

What will your Christmas self say to you?

“Thanks, I’m in great shape, and can have a great festive season” or “Damn I’m still too fat, too unfit, too overwhelmed by work and things that I should have sorted”.

Either way the time will pass.

I’m pushing things up a notch now – exercise and diet quality. I’m moving to TMAD (two meals a day, no snacks). I’ve ordered my phone back out of the bedroom, I’m reading a new book. I’ve committed to some summer swim-run events.

What is your spring looking like and how is that getting you fired up for summer?
