Why Behaviour Change Is the Holy Grail of Health

Hi there,

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

You might recognise that line from Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities.

Dickens was describing the late 18th century and the French Revolution – but his words ring just as true today.

It is the best of times.

We live better than the most distinguished royalty did only a few centuries ago. Meals arrive at our doorstep. We have access to modern medicine. And the entirety of human knowledge is available at our fingertips.

It is the worst of times.

Severe mental distress is at an all-time high. Our ultra-processed diets are making us sicker and heavier. Around 90% of deaths are now linked to preventable chronic disease.

We’re standing at a crossroads – one that will define the future of our health, our children’s health, and our society.

However, the issue clearly isn’t a lack of knowledge.

We know the stats. We know what’s hurting us.

Most people understand that the late-night Macca’s run isn’t doing their health any favours. So why do we still do it?

Because knowing something is bad for us – and actually changing our behaviour – are two very different things.

That’s the real challenge. That’s the Holy Grail of a healthier, happier life:

The ability to change your own and others’ behaviour.

And that’s exactly where Health Coaching comes in.

What is a Health Coach?

Health Coaches are a new wave of health professional helping to fill the gap in our system by supporting people to make real, lasting change.

Rather than prescribing or treating, they equip individuals with the tools, to take ownership of their health and create sustainable behaviour change.

Health Coaches help people bridge the gap between knowing and doing.

They help turn insight into action. Confusion into clarity. Stuck into progress.

Health Coaching is powerful because it meets people where they’re at – and helps them move forward.

And right now, we need more of them – badly.
